About Library

The Vivekanand Central Library of Central University of Jharkhand, Ranchi is the heart of the University academic system to providing direct academic and research supports to all the departments. It was setup in the very beginning with the establishment of the university in the year 2009.

The Vivekanand Central Library is an automated library in terms of records organisation and management of all its different sections, search and discovery, information retrieval and service delivery. The whole library operations run on an Open-source Integrated Library Management software-KOHA. Over the years, the library has brought several databases of books, journals, theses/dissertations, conference proceedings, etc. in its collection development to fulfil the academic need of its users.

The Vivekanand Central Library is equipped with RFID based security system as well as CCTV surveillance system is also installed to keep a track on library resources and users to provide smooth library services. Focus has been given on collection building of print resources as well as licensed e-resources and E-ShodhSindhu sponsored resources.

To cope up with the challenges of increasing number of students, research scholars and faculty members as well as ever changing information and communication technologies, the library has been shifted to a newly constructed building which is planned to be a centrally air-conditioned library and, state-of-the-art facilities is being developed to provide the best library services. The staff of the library strive their best to help and push the boundaries of Central University of Jharkhand, Ranchi in national and international academic spaces.
