Welcome to the Vivekanand Central Library
The Vivekanand Central Library of Central University of Jharkhand, Ranchi is the heart of the University academic system to provide direct academic and research supports to all the departments. It was setup in the very beginning with the establishment of the university in the year 2009.
The Vivekanand Central Library is an automated library in terms of records organisation and management of all its different sections, search and discovery, information retrieval and service delivery. The whole library operations run on an Open-source Integrated Library Management software-KOHA. Over the years, the library has brought several databases of books, journals, theses/dissertations, conference proceedings, etc. in its collection to fulfil the academic need of its users.
The Vivekanand Central Library is equipped with an RFID-based security system, and a CCTV surveillance system has also been installed to monitor library resources and users, ensuring the smooth delivery of library services. Emphasis has been placed on building a collection of both print resources and licensed e-resources, including those available through One Nation One Nation Platform.
To cope up with the challenges of increasing number of students, research scholars and faculty members as well as ever changing information and communication technologies, the library has been shifted to a newly constructed building which is planned to be a centrally air-conditioned library and, state-of-the-art facilities is being developed to provide the best library services. The staff of the library strive their best to help and push the boundaries of Central University of Jharkhand, Ranchi in national and international academic spaces.
